The FAQs

Do I have to go to a specific school to participate?

No, we want students from all schools to get involved. The greater our reach, the more students and families we can connect with. Project Leaders from all schools will meet via video to discuss project specifics and to-dos. S2S has students from nearly a dozen LA-area schools. If you’d like to be a Project Leader at your school, email us at info@s2sla.org

Do I have to do all of the projects?

No, any number of projects, in any capacity, is 100% fine. You can do as much or as little of any and all projects as you’d like

What is the typical weekly and monthly commitment like?

It depends on your involvement, there are at least a few weeks of downtime between each project, so commitment for everyone is broken up, but as for weekly or monthly commitments you can spend as much time helping out as you desire.

Do I need to be able to drive?

For some things like pickups and drop offs, you’ll need to be a licensed driver, but there are so many other ways you can participate such as outreach to family and friends, corporate outreach, inventory, etc.

Does S2S provide service hours?

Yes. Each project has outlined service hours / maximums as determined by your individual school. We use Treedom to issue service hours. Once you’re signed up, we’ll send you a link to the app and you’ll be all set.

Where are these events happening?

Donations and collections happen all over Los Angeles with a central HQ / storage area in West Hollywood (no matter what school you attend). S2S will coordinate with Project Leaders at each school for easy pick up and drop off.

  • The Backpack Drive takes place at the LA DPSS in Los Angeles

  • Holiday Adopt a Family takes place all over Los Angeles, specific to each recipient family.
